The city of Winter Haven, Florida, will receive $9.4 million in state grants for road improvements at the CSX-served Intermodal Logistics Center.
The Florida Job Growth Grant Fund — which is administered through the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity — is providing $6.4 million and the Florida Department of Transportation is allocating $3 million to improve access to more than 1,200 acres of industrial land, attract new businesses and generate nearly 5,000 jobs over the next several years, state officials said in a news release.
The Florida Job Growth Grant Fund is an economic development program designed to promote public infrastructure and workforce training across the state.
“This project will support major freight and logistics operations to address current and future consumer needs from Jacksonville to Miami,” said Florida Transportation Secretary Kevin Thibault.
In the 2020-21 fiscal year, the state has awarded $74 million for projects that focus on infrastructure initiatives to attract businesses, create jobs and promote economic growth, Florida officials said.
