GE Security's tamper-resistant container passes field tests

GE Security recently field tested its Tamper Evident Secure Container (TESC), a standard maritime shipping container featuring GE's CommerceGuard™ container security device.

Jointly developed by GE and China International Marine Containers Group Ltd., TESC is designed to be armed with an encrypted code after the container is sealed. When a TESC passes within range of a global wireless reader, the security device sends a signal to inform logistics and customs officials about the container's location and any unauthorized openings.

Unisys Corp. tested TESC by simulating more than 15 different security breach attempts in China, Hong Kong and the United States. The container detected every breach, GE Security officials said in a prepared statement.

"We have demonstrated a solution that meets the security demands of government and enables ports to move goods efficiently at a cost-per-shipment that is viable for shippers," said GE Security President of Monitored Solutions Greg Burge.
