The CA$16 million expansion includes the acquisition of 20 acres to construct a 32,000-square-foot transportation terminal.
HMF began operations of a 7,000-square-foot building at CentrePort Canada in 2020. The new facility will be enable HMF to increase its fleet from 125 units to over 800 units, CentrePort officials said in a press release. The facility will feature a wash bay and operations, maintenance and warehouse space.
The new terminal is expected to be operational in late 2025. The first phase, which covers 193 acres of the 665-acre project, is available for sale and further development, HMF officials said.
"Looking ahead, we have begun planning Phase 2, which will feature a 50,000 to 75,000-square-foot cold storage warehouse," said HMF President and CEO Jass Dhillon.
Founded in 2015, HMF provides temperature-controlled and dry freight services across North America.
