The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) has developed a resource guide on the inspection, repair and replacement of components on the North American intermodal chassis fleet. The "IANA Guide to Chassis Inspection and Repair: Intermodal Recommended Practices" was developed as a project designed in part to support the tasks of recruiting, training and retaining quality mechanics, association officials said in a press release."The impact of these recommended practices will have far-reaching effects on improving the safety and utilization of chassis long into the future," said IANA Senior Vice President Steve Keppler. The 300-page manual — which is available in print and digital formats — serves as a basis for a chassis mechanics training curriculum, according to IANA.More information about the guide is available on IANA's website.
