advertisement
CSXI Intermodal and Union Pacific Railroad recently added lanes to STAX, a domestic-container program offering intermodal shippers 53-foot high-cube containers and coast-to-coast logistics services.
The program now is available for West Coast moves originating in Atlanta; Baltimore; Boston; Charlotte, N.C.; Chicago; Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio; Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami and Tampa, Fla.; Fort Smith, Ark.; Memphis, Tenn.; New York City; Philadelphia; Portsmouth, Va.; South Kearny, N.J.; and Worcester, Mass.
East Coast moves can originate in Dallas; Denver; El Paso, Texas; Kansas City and St. Louis, Mo.; Los Angeles, San Diego, Calexico and Industry, Calif.; Reno, Nev.; Phoenix; and Salt Lake City.
STAX containers include 110-inch door openings and floors designed to withstand 24,000 pounds. The Class Is believe the program is a more cost-effective transloading option that enables large retailers and other intermodal shippers to penetrate new markets.
