Last week, Illinois Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon voiced support for a proposed maintenance center in a redeveloped portion of a former arsenal and ammunition plant in the Joliet area that would service containers, chassis and tractor trailers from nearby BNSF Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad intermodal terminals.
The Infinity Group plans to purchase 50 acres in the South Arsenal Logistics Center in Wilmington and build the facility this fall. The facility would repair and maintain containers and intermodal equipment from the BNSF Logistics Park and Union Pacific Joliet Intermodal Terminal, said Simon in a prepared statement.
The proposed $15 million center would include a 30,000-square-foot office building, 14-bay repair facility and a container/trailer storage area.
“Our state’s economic recovery is tied to the health and expansion of our locally-based businesses, regional industrial parks and military facilities,” said Simon.
