Rail News: Intermodal

Intermodal logistics firm expands truck capacity

Truckers’ capacity constraints are putting a crimp in burgeoning intermodal traffic. So, intermodal logistics firm H&M International Transportation is trying to address the issue. The company recently opened intermodal trucking operations in Columbus, Ohio and Norfolk, Va., increasing its total number of intermodal terminals to eight.

The facilities include rail terminal operations, container yard and freight stations, and warehousing, consolidation and distribution areas.

"The H&M fleet is now at 400 trucks," said H&M International President and Chief Operating Officer Chuck Connors in a prepared statement. "With the nine rail intermodal lift operations we currently manage, and container storage facilities … and distribution and customs examination sights, it is evident that we [are trying] to support our customers and the intermodal industry overall.”
