advertisement
Kansas City Southern and Burlington Northern Santa Fe officials recently held a two-day meeting on a train from Alliance, Texas, to Meridian, Miss., to discuss ways to enhance the Class Is' marketing alliance.
Attendees — including KCS Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Haverty, BSNF Chairman, president and CEO Matthew Rose, and marketing and operations teams — focused on developing new marketing opportunities.
The executives also discussed KCS' planned improvements to the Meridian Speedway, including additional sidings, power-assisted switches and a track realignment through the Vicksburg tunnel.
The meeting also enabled both roads' new marketing personnel to meet. In mid-December, BNSF Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Charles Schultz, who plans to retire in June, named several new marketing assistant vice presidents. In January, Larry Stevenson joined KCS as senior vice president of marketing and sales.
