On Sept. 1, Kansas City Southern plans to close its downtown Kansas City, Mo., TransLoad Center (TLC), which has been relocated to a new 10-acre plastics TLC at Coburg Yard in the city.

Constructed in the mid-1980s, the downtown TLC has a 65-car capacity. The new facility offers a 90-car capacity and 80 unloading spots, as well as fencing, lighting, pavement, a truck scale, filtered drainage system, improved switching capabilities and land for expansion.

Also on Sept. 1, Warehouse Specialists Inc. will begin serving as the new operator of KCS' Dallas TLC, which includes 14 rail and 24 truck doors. A national transload company based in Appleton, Wis., Warehouse Specialists specializes in paper handling.
