Logistic Services Inc. (LSI), a Carrix company operating bulk and breakbulk facilities in Arkansas and Mississippi, has acquired substantially all assets of Five Rivers Distribution LLC.

The acquisition includes two multimodal terminals at the ports of Van Buren and Fort Smith, Arkansas, company officials said in a press release. Both terminals are served by BNSF Railway, CPKC and Union Pacific Railroad.

LSI operates intermodal bulk and breakbulk locations across the inland waterways network, offering barge, rail, storage, packaging and logistics services. Five Rivers’ terminals, operations and employees will be integrated into LSI.

The transaction will strengthen LSI’s inland waterways operations, expand its presence on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, and continue to grow barge, rail and truck connectivity for agricultural, industrial and bulk commodities, officials said.

“Five Rivers is an outstanding inland river operator with strong assets, deep customer relationships, and a proven track record of safe, efficient operations,” said Meghan Weinman, president of the Conventional Division of Carrix.
