The GCT Deltaport at Port of Vancouver late last week welcomed Hapag-Lloyd's Antwerpen Express, the largest container vessel to call on Canada, GCT Canada officials announced yesterday.

The 13,200 twenty-foot-equivalent-unit vessel has been deployed as part of Transport High Efficiency Alliance's Transpacific mainline West Coast PN3 service. GCT Deltaport was the vessel's first port-of-call directly from the Far East, according to a GCT Canada press release.

GCT Deltaport, which hosts the largest ships to arrive at the port, recently completed construction of its $280 million intermodal yard reconfiguration project to increase rail capacity by more than 50 percent.

The port is served by CN and Canadian Pacific.
