Norfolk Southern Corp. recently contracted NASCENT Technology L.L.C. to install its SYNAPSE™ automated gate system at the Rickenbacker intermodal terminal in Columbus, Ohio.
The system, which features inspection and optical character recognition capabilities, digital cameras and voice-over-IP-enabled communication functions, can increase gate throughput, reduce data entry errors and improve security, NASCENT said in a prepared statement.
NS already has installed SYNAPSE at intermodal facilities in Austell, Ga., and Jersey City, N.J.
