The Port of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) is open and operating under normal conditions amid the health crisis associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, port officials announced Monday.

Port officials are coordinating with federal, state and local agencies — including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection — to address public health and safety concerns, according to a PANYNJ newsletter.

"While container volumes are down this month due to the extended closure of factories in China, the port is receiving regular container vessel calls and all indications are that Chinese supply chains and factories are resuming normal production levels," port officials said.

There has been no impact to PANYNJ's intermodal rail capabilities, and none are expected at this time, they added.
