PANYNJ cargo volume, PATH ridership grew in January

In January, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) moved 720,747 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs), marking its third-busiest month in cargo movements.
January's total is 8% higher than January 2024’s total TEUs, and a 16% increase over pre-pandemic January 2019, PANYNJ officials said in a press release. Volume rose 5% from December 2024 to January 2025.
Additionally, the port’s Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) commuter railroad's ridership in January rose 11% to 4.5 million passengers compared to a year ago.
