The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's (PANYNJ) cargo volumes are continuing to break records from month to month as well as exceed pre-pandemic records, the authority reported last week.
June 2022 was the port’s second-busiest month ever at 859,953 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs), up nearly 2% over May's count. June cargo volume climbed more than 40% compared with June 2019's volume.
The port’s all-time monthly record — recorded in March — remains at 862,117 TEUs.
The port offers connections to CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway.
Meanwhile, the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) transit-rail system registered 3.9 million riders in June, 56% of PATH’s total ridership in pre-pandemic June 2019. Ridership rose nearly 6% compared with ridership in May.
