PANYNJ reports rail volume decrease in November

In November 2023, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's (PANYNJ) rail volume totaled 50,120 containers, down 6.8% from the November 2022's mark.

Rail volume from January through November 2023 declined 12.4%, according to a news release.

In November, imports at PANYNJ declined 7.2% to 179,757 units versus 194,678 in November 2022. From January through November, imports plunged 18.6% year over year to 2,032,469 units.

Exports increased 1.5% to 59,906 units in November, but dipped 1.3% to 637,768 units from January through November.

A total of 27,249 autos moved through the port complex in November, down 23.4 percent year over year. Auto volume for the January-November period fell 12.2%.
