The Manatee County Port Authority (MCPA) is launching SeaPort Manatee, a new forward-looking identity aimed at bolstering trade on the Gulf Coast.

The rebranding comes as the port recently celebrated record activity in fiscal-year 2021, including a record 135,660 20-foot-equivalent units of containerized cargo registered in FY2020, up 53.3%. The port also set a record for total cargo tonnage at 10,451,566 as it expanded to include boat imports and recycled steel exports.

The port’s dockside container yard is currently being doubled to 23.5 acres through a project worth $13.1 million. SeaPort Manatee has a $74 million capital improvement plan.

“We enthusiastically embrace this [new] freshly distinctive identity, befitting the unique nature of our seaport and our business-oriented commitment to connecting worldwide markets with the burgeoning consumer and industrial bases of southwest and central Florida,” said MCPA Chairman Reggie Bellamy in a press release.

Port Manatee Railroad LLC — a Regional Rail LLC subsidiary — serves SeaPort Manatee.
