The Lost Creek Rock Products Coastal Reload Yard opened March 1 at the Port of Coos Bay in Oregon. The multi-commodity, rail-to-truck and truck-to-rail terminal will serve the southern Oregon coast with a link to domestic and global markets, Port of Coos Bay officials said in a press release.Located on the North Spit, the new yard is served by the Coos Bay Rail Line (CBRL) and operated by Lost Creek Rock Products, which has operated the Greenhill Reload Yard in West Eugene, Oregon, at the rail line's northern terminus since 2016.Lost Creek and port officials will jointly market the new reload yard, which handles aggregates and forest products."We have been partnering with the port and the CBRL for many years in West Eugene and have invested over $10 million in privately owned rail terminal facilities and infrastructure. Moving forward at the Coastal Reload Yard is a logical next step," said Greg Demers, principal at Lost Creek Rock Products. The 134-mile CBRL, which connects to Union Pacific Railroad, moves about 5,000 loaded rail cars per year.
