Port of Long Beach logs busiest February on record

An unseasonable surge in cargo helped the Port of Long Beach register its busiest-ever February.

The port handled 771,735 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs), a 43.3% year-over-year jump and the largest single-month gain in the its 110-year history.

The port for the first time registered more than 700,000 TEUs in a February and exceeded its previous February record set in 2018 by 109,945 TEUs.

Imports in February jumped 50.3% to 373,756 TEUs, while exports declined 4.9% to 119,416 TEUs. Empty container volume soared 69.6% to 278,563 TEUs.
