The Ports of Indiana has issued a request for information (RFI) to gauge interest and availability from manufacturers that could bid to construct and deliver a Buy America-compliant crane to Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon.

The RFI document includes a questionnaire that must be answered and returned to Ports of Indiana by Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. (EST). Questions related to the RFI must be submitted by Nov. 3.

The crane’s procurement is being funded primarily through a $2.25 million U.S. Marine Highway Program grant awarded to Ports of Indiana in September. The crane will more than double Mount Vernon’s lift capacity and result in major emissions reductions through greater operating efficiencies, port officials said in a press release.

The port in Mount Vernon offers 24-hour rail service provided by Evansville Western Railway, direct interchanges to five Class Is and 8 miles of railroad on-port property.
