Rail Modal Group (RMG) recently acknowledged the 100th train has passed through the now 4-year-old Minot Intermodal Facility in North Dakota.
The train arrived the week of Sept. 30 and left Oct. 4, traveling to the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, where the Northwest Seaport Alliance loaded the train's cargo onto container ships that are transporting the cargo to ports around the world, Minot Area Chamber Economic Development Co. (MACEDC) officials said in a press release.
Served by BNSF Railway Co., the Minot facility opened in October 2020 and has since shipped more than 20,000 containers. Products that have passed through the facility include wheat, dried distiller’s grains, soybeans, pulses, bagged lignite and sugar beet pulp pellets. An average of three to five trains, with 200 to 220 containers each, leave the Minot facility each month, according to MACEDC officials.
Operated by RMG in the Logistics Park North Dakota, the facility spans 136 acres and features more than 3 miles of track.
