Rail News: Intermodal
Since its June launch, “Mexico Express” has become Schneider National Inc.’s fastest cross-border intermodal lane. Provided in conjunction with Kansas City Southern, Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. and Norfolk Southern Railway, the service offers intermodal moves between the U.S. Eastern Seaboard and Mexican destinations, including Mexico City, San Luis Potosí; Guadalajara, Monterrey and Nuevo León.
Schneider National and its railroad partners pre-clear Mexico Express freight at ramps prior to train departures to avoid border-crossing delays in Laredo, Texas, and speed cargo into Mexico. The service features a five-day ramp schedule north and south of the border, and an expanded drayage radius in Mexico.
“Mexico Express answers this market’s need for additional capacity and more streamlined cross-border shipments,” said Schneider National President of Intermodal Bill Matheson in a prepared statement.
