Rail News: Intermodal
Schneider Logistics Inc. recently opened a Shanghai, China, office to provide freight management services across North America, Europe and Asia.
The transportation and logistics service provider has applied for a trademark in the country under its Chinese name, "Shi Neng Da," which means "the world is within reach."
"As China’s regulatory environment continues to evolve, and the volume of global and domestic trade increases, it is imperative that logistics providers directly link to China," said Schneider Logistics President Tom Escott in a prepared statement.
Meanwhile, the firm’s parent Schneider National Inc. announced plans to incorporate motion-based simulators into North American driver training programs during the next two years.
Schneider National will purchase simulators from MRPI to enhance current instructor-based training programs. The simulators are designed to expose drivers to various on-the-road scenarios, including inclement weather, equipment failures or heavy traffic.
Schneider National offers TruckRail® and TruckRail Express™ trailer services with BNSF Railway Co. and CSX Transportation, and an OptiModal® container service with Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railway.
