Rail News: Intermodal

UP, NS make changes to Blue Streak offerings

Union Pacific Railroad recently began offering Expedited Plus, a “Blue Streak” intermodal service that guarantees containers and priority loading slots for shippers.

Formerly called “Premium” service, Expedited Plus won’t average more than 500 miles per day — a transit guarantee offered by Blue Streak SuperFlyer service.

UP and Norfolk Southern Railway plan to begin offering Expedited Plus service to Denver for 48- and 53-foot Equipment Management Program containers.

In fall 2001, UP and NS launched Blue Streak, a joint expedited intermodal service provided between several major markets in the western and northeastern United States.
