Updates from Sumitomo/Mitsubishi, Siemens, Westcode and Triple Crown Services

• A Parsons Odebrecht Joint Venture (POJV) won a $259 million contract from the Miami-Dade County Board of Commissoners to build a 1.27-mile Automated people Mover (APM) system to run between Miami International Airport and the Miami Intermodal Center. POJV comprises Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America Inc. and Sumitomo Corp. of America. The APM system will include two station stops and eight vehicles.
• Siemens Mobility obtained a $150 million contract from Norwegian public transport rolling stock company Oslo Vognselskap for another 20 metro trains. Delivery is expected to be completed by 2010. The contract is part of a 2003 order Oslo Sporveier placed with Siemens for 33 three-car metro trains, with an option of up to 85 additional trains. The three cars on each train are interconnected by gangways and can accommodate about 500 passengers.
• Westcode Inc. obtained a contract from Bombardier Transportation to provide environmentally friendly HVAC systems for bi-level cars Bombardier is building for GO Transit. The systems will include state-of-the-art microprocessors to replace older PLC systems and touch-screen status/display panels.
• Triple Crown Services Co. has implemented several environmental initiatives to promote and improve fuel conservation and emission reductions. The company's initiatives focus on the environmental advantages of its hybrid RoadRailer® trailer, a combination over-the-road trailer and rail car. In addition, Triple Crown has unveiled a new logo to convey its conservation initiatives and emphasize its 22-year contribution to environmental causes.
