The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) this month welcomed Wallenius Wilhelmsen, a global shipping and logistics company, to the port in Brunswick, Georgia.

The company on Jan. 21 opened a facility in Brunswick, consolidating the company’s equipment processing center in Pooler, Georgia, and port calls at the Savannah Ocean Terminal into one location, GPA officials said in a press release.

The new facility will use the Port of Brunswick’s Colonel’s Island terminal for the export and import of automobiles, GPA officials said in a press release.  CSX, Norfolk Southern Railway and the Golden Isles Terminal Rail Road serve the terminal.

The terminal will be able to accommodate Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s fleet of roll-on/roll-off vessels, and the company is investing in sustainable cargo handling equipment for the terminal, including electric vehicle trucks and forklifts, port officials said.
