The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and the North County Transit District (NCTD) have launched the Compass Cloud mobile ticketing app.

Powered by moovel North America, the app enables riders to purchase fares on their phone at any time. Compass Cloud also allows passengers to store multiple tickets and passes on one phone so they can pay for family members and friends, moovel officials said in a press release.

Compass Cloud is the first app to provide mobile ticketing for both transit agencies.

During the app's first phase, adult passengers can buy day passes, 30-day passes and COASTER one-way tickets. In the future, the app will include discounted fares for youth, seniors and riders with disabilities.
