A panel investigating freight-rail competition in Mexico has dismissed a preliminary report by the Mexican Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) that alleged competition was lacking in certain areas of the country's freight-rail market.Kansas City Southern officials announced today that they've received the final resolution. "The final resolution dismisses the preliminary report issued by the investigating authority of the COFECE along with its finding of a lack of competition for interconnection services," KCS officials said in a prepared statement. "The final resolution represents the end of the investigation and no further amendments or modifications may be made to the preliminary report."The investigation examined the level of competition for interconnection services, trackage rights and switching rights as part of freight-rail service in Mexico.KCS officials disagreed with the preliminary report's conclusions, which were issued last year.
