KCS execs talk strategy, business fundamentals with European investors
advertisement
Earlier this month, four Kansas City Southern executives met with some of the company's largest shareholders and potential equity investors in an unlikely setting — Europe.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mike Haverty, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Pat Ottensmeyer, Assistant VP of Investor Relations Bill Galligan, and Director of Investor Relations and Financial Analysis Ginger Adamiak traveled overseas to generate investment interest in KCS.
Over the course of five days, the execs met with 34 investors in London; Frankfurt, Germany; Glasgow and Edinburg, Scotland; and Dublin, Ireland. The executives tried to help investors better understand KCS' business opportunities, growth strategy and operating environment, including the development of the port of Lázaro Cárdenas in Mexico, growing automotive business and capital investments.
"It was refreshing to meet a new universe of investors, who are very interested in the U.S. rail industry, including KCS," said Ottensmeyer in an item posted on the "KCS News" Web site. "Their approach to investment management is from the long-term perspective, so they were focused on our strategy and fundamentals."
