Kansas City Southern has appointed Erik Hansen vice president of intermodal and Daniel Bozung, assistant vice president of mechanical operations for Kansas City Southern Railway Co. (KCSR).

Hansen will be responsible for KCS' intermodal sales and marketing, and intermodal and automotive operations, and will report to Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Patrick Ottensmeyer.

Hansen most recently was managing director of Maersk Line Middle America. He held various leadership positions at A.P. Moller-Maersk for more than 25 years, including country and regional chief financial officer for subsidiaries in the Far East and Latin America.

"Erik brings a wealth of experience and leadership across a wide spectrum, including sales, marketing, operations and finance," said Ottensmeyer in a press release. "His expertise in the Mexican intermodal market, in particular, fits very well with KCS' strategic focus."

Bozung, who will report to Vice President of Mechanical Operations Gary Jarboe, will lead the development of KCSR's new work management system and implement a technical training program for locomotive mechanics.

Prior to joining KCSR, Bozung held various marketing, corporate public affairs and supply chain management positions at Caterpillar Inc. He previously was an active duty naval officer and Seahawk helicopter pilot during multiple overseas deployments, and continues to serve in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
