On July 31, Kansas City Southern finished implementing information technology (IT) infrastructure changes in the United States and Mexico designed to upgrade the core systems platform and improve IT capacity.
“KCS is committed to being the most customer-focused railroad in the industry [and] this system upgrade allows the company to be more responsive to changing customer needs and expectations as business grows over the next several years," officials said in an item posted on the “KCS News” web page.
Various KCS departments have been preparing for the IT transition the past 18 months. The cut-over was managed from command centers in Kansas City, Mo., Laredo, Texas, and Monterrey, Mexico.
