Kansas City Southern joins BiTA

Kansas City Southern has joined the Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA), the Class I announced late last week.

BiTA was founded to engage transportation and technology industry leaders who have a shared vision of leveraging blockchain technology within the supply chain to develop a standard framework, educate the market and encourage its widespread adoption, KCS officials said in a press release.

"KCS recognizes the potential of this technology to create transparency and efficiencies throughout the supply chain to better serve the interests of our shippers and partners," said KCS senior vice president operations support and chief information officer Mike Naatz.

Earlier this year, BNSF Railway Co. became the first Class I to join BiTA.
