Kansas City Southern has been recognized as one of the 2018 CIO 100 for exemplifying operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).

KCS will be honored at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony to be held Aug. 15 in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Each year, the IDG's CIO highlights technology innovation and business value delivered by the award winners.

"This year's winners are inspiring examples of how IT leadership, business partnerships and customer engagement can reshape the future," said Maryfran Johnson, executive director of CIO programs for CIO events and the CIO Executive Council, in a press release.

One example of KCS' use of IT is its recently announced CloudMoyo Crew Management-Mexico Crew Call, a cloud-based, automated crew management solution for Kansas City Southern de Mexico. The workforce and logistics management solution automates tasks and provides real-time data to more effectively manage the business, KCS officials said.

"As we work toward a corporate vision of consistently being the fastest-growing, best-performing, most customer-focused transportation provider in North America, recognition for the CCM-Mexico Crew Call project shows we are making progress toward our goals for operational efficiency and customer service," said Mike Naatz, senior vice president operations support and chief information officer for KCS.
