Kansas City Southern's KCS Holiday Express train will return to service Nov. 23 for the first time since the pandemic began in 2020.
The six-car holiday train will travel through 20 communities in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois, KCS officials said in a press release.
The train will begin its tour in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Nov. 23. It will make its final stop Dec. 13 in Roodhouse, Illinois, where it will stay for several days so that the public can tour the inside of the train in a limited capacity.
The Class I will also continue its partnership with The Salvation Army by accepting donations throughout the route. The holiday train has helped raise more than $2.6 million for charity over the past 21 years, KCS officials said.
"We are grateful to the donors who continued to support the virtual Holiday Express program the last two years, and look forward to another successful fundraising effort to help The Salvation Army help people who need it most during the holiday season," said KCS President and CEO Patrick Ottensmeyer.
