Heavy lifting and multi-modal transportation services provider Mammoet recently recognized Kansas City Southern as a "strategic partner" following a successful shipment of a 689,000-pound transformer from Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Houston.
Mammoet recognized the railroad’s efforts in security, service quality and shipment coordination.
The Class I has the expertise to successfully move over-size equipment — such as transformers, rotors, tanks and machinery — across the U.S.-Mexico border, KCS officials said in an item posted on the “KCS News” web page. The railroad also operates a network with few clearance or dimension restrictions, they said.
“Having knowledgeable KCS executives on both sides of the border also distinguishes us in the North American market for these types of specialty moves,” said Yolanda Treviño, a Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. executive.
