The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) recently appointed Tom Pontolillo director of research and assistant to the president to succeed Dennis Simmerman, who died on March 7.
Pontolillo most recently served as BLET’s director of regulatory affairs, a position he’s held since January 2006. He previously served as the union’s director of communications and strategic coordination. In his new post, Pontolillo will play a key role in the next round of national contract negotiations.
Pontolillo began his railroad career in 1972 as a fireman for Penn Central Railroad.
