Transportation Communications Union (TCU)-represented workers at CSXT Intermodal recently ratified a new contract by a 96 percent margin.

The new agreement “mirrors the recent national freight agreement’s economic provisions,” providing 20.1 percent compounded general wage increases over the six-year contract, which is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2010, and expires Dec. 31, 2015, TCU officials said in a prepared statement. The pact also provides a lump-sum payment equal to 1 percent of straight-time earnings for a 12-month period from November 2010 through October 2011, and retains the existing CSXT Intermodal health plan.

Meanwhile, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) reached a tentative on-property agreement with Union Pacific Railroad. The pact, which follows two years of negotiations, governs pay rates and work rules for about 7,000 locomotive engineers. 

BLET officials plan to soon mail ratification ballots to members; ballots will be counted in April.

In addition, the United Transportation Union (UTU) reached a first-time agreement with Progressive Rail Inc. that covers train and engine workers. The pact “dramatically improves wages, rules and working conditions” for Progressive Rail workers, said UTU International Vice President John Previsich in a prepared statement.

Progressive Rail operates 156 miles of track serving 16 communities in Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin.
