Canadian Pacific Railway recently reached a tentative agreement with United Steelworkers' Local 1976, which represents 1,500 CPR workers.

Although terms weren't disclosed, the agreement would increase wages, and improve pensions and other benefits, said union spokesman Richard Pagé in a prepared statement.

Later this month, the union plans to mail ratification ballots to members. Ballot results are expected in mid- to late-January.

Local 1976-represented workers include crew dispatchers, intermodal terminal operators, storespersons, accounting staff and freight claims adjusters located in Toronto; Montreal; Vancouver, British Columbia; Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta; Saskatoon and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Thunder Bay, Ontario.
