The Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC) and Teamsters Rail Conference Maintenance of Way Employees Division (TCRC MWED) announced yesterday they've reached a tentative five-year labor agreement covering employees who maintain Ontario Northland's rail infrastructure.

The agreement "balances the interests of employees with the need to provide sustainable transportation services," said ONTC Interim President and Chief Executive Officer Corina Moore in a press release.

"This agreement is another positive step for the organization, and for strengthening our future," she added.

"We look forward to presenting this agreement to our members," said Louis Wilson, president of TCRC MWED. "It is a fair agreement and we are proud of the hard work the bargaining team has done on behalf of our members."

The union represents 161 employees who maintain track, buildings, bridges and other infrastructure along the Ontario Northland rail line.
