The Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad's maintenance of way (MOW) workers and signalmen have voted for representation by the SMART Transportation Division, the labor organization announced last week.

The National Mediation Board certified the election results Aug. 30. As a result, 36 MOW workers and 10 signalmen will join engineers, conductors and brakemen who are employed by the railroad and represented by Local 377.

Buffalo & Pittsburgh is a Class II railroad operating on 411 miles in New York and Pennsylvania. Its main line runs between Buffalo, N.Y., and Eidenau, Pa.

The railroad is owned by Genesee & Wyoming Inc.
