Five major railroads appear on the 2019 Military Friendly® Employers list recently issued by G.I. Jobs magazine.

BNSF Railway Co., Canadian Pacific, Norfolk Southern Corp. and Union Pacific Railroad are listed in the air and rail transportation category for companies with annual revenue over $1 billion. In terms of status, UP attained gold; CP, silver; NS, bronze; and BNSF, designated.

In the government/nonprofit category, Amtrak is listed among the top ten listees.

The magazine compiles the list each year to recognize organizations that offer military veterans the best opportunities for education and careers. Companies are evaluated using both public and governmental data sources, and an employer survey developed by an independent research firm.

Criteria judged by G.I. Jobs includes veteran recruiting and sourcing; career opportunities and advancement; culture and commitment; military support and retention; and military employee policies and compliance.
