The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has partnered with the Walsh-Fluor Design-Build Team joint venture to host career fairs in pursuit of a diverse workforce for CTA’s largest capital improvement project, the Red and Purple Modernization (RPM).
The career and networking fairs are designed to deliver training and job opportunity information to disadvantaged workers and communities throughout Chicago, and lead to a more diversified workforce on the RPM and other CTA construction projects, authority officials said in a press release.
The first fair, to be held on Aug. 28 at the JLM Center in Chicago, will be followed by a series of RPM career networking fairs that the CTA and Walsh-Fluor will host throughout the five-year project, they said.
In addition to the workforce events, CTA and Walsh-Fluor have held a series of meetings for small and disadvantaged businesses to inform them of contracting opportunities available on the RPM and other projects.
The Walsh-Fluor Design-Build Team is led by Walsh Construction Co. II LLC, in partnership with Fluor Enterprises Inc.
