On Sept. 9, the Lake Terminal Railroad Co. reached a tentative agreement with United Steel Workers of America (USWA) covering carmen, and locomotive shop and maintenance-of-way workers, according to the National Mediation Board.

Contract details weren't released pending ratification by USWA members.

The 24-mile short line is owned by U.S. Steel Corp. subsidiary Transtar, which also owns the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway Co., Union Railroad Co., Birmingham Southern Railroad Co. and McKeesport Connecting Railroad Co.
