IBEW agrees to arbitration, ending strike at CN

CN yesterday announced the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) has agreed to binding arbitration, bringing a strike launched by the union to an end effective today.

The Class I's signals and communications employees will return to their jobs tomorrow morning, CN officials said in a press release.

CN thanked management employees and contractors for their service that enabled rail operations to continue uninterrupted during the strike.

IBEW represents about 750 CN employees. The strike began June 20 after the two parties couldn’t reach an agreement on a new contract.
