Yesterday, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) announced members ratified a collective agreement with the National Carriers’ Conference Committee, which bargains for more than 30 U.S. railroads, including the Class Is.

The contract covers about 10,000 railroad workers, including 2,000 BNSF Railway Co. employees, according to the “BNSF Today” Web site.

The contract concludes the 1999 round of bargaining between rail unions and the major railroads, BNSF said.
