Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division (BMWED) members last week ratified an agreement for four annual paid sick leave days with BNSF Railway Co.

The agreement also provides three paid personal days that can be used as paid sick time off, BMWED officials said in a news release.

A total of 3,355 members returned ballots with 2,987 ratifying the deal, an approval rate of 89%.

Meanwhile, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) last week announced it reached a tentative agreement with Keolis Rail Services Virginia. If ratified, the agreement would cover rates of pay and health care benefits for 11 locomotive engineers who run trains for the Virginia Railway Express.

The five-year pact would provide full retroactive payments dating to 2021 and run through 2025. It also would provide general wage increases compounded at 22.2% over the life of the agreement, according to a BLET newsletter.
