The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) has reached a five-year tentative agreement with Keolis Commuter Services for locomotive engineers at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).

If ratified, the contract would govern rates of pay, benefits and work rules for 194 members. Ballots are due Jan. 29.

The contract would be retroactive to July 1, 2023, BLET officials said in a press release. It would provide general wage increases of 25% over the five years and an additional $2 per hour on top of the 5% general wage increase in 2027, totaling a compound general wage increase of 31.9% through the term of the agreement.

Other proposed benefits include the addition of three paid sick days annually, an expanded bereavement leave policy, a Juneteenth holiday, and lowering factor day requirements for vacation days.

Keolis operates the MBTA’s 14 commuter-rail lines serving the Boston area and Rhode Island.
