Allegheny County port authority rejects fact finder's labor contract recommendations

Yesterday, the Port Authority of Allegheny County’s board rejected a fact finder’s report that recommends provisions for a new collective bargaining agreement with the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 85, which represents 2,300 employees.

The report was issued by Robert Gifford, who was appointed fact finder by the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board after the contract between the authority and union expired on July 31.

"While the report recommends employee contributions to health care and changes in pension contributions, along with other cost savings actions, it does not generate enough savings to warrant its acceptance," said Port Authority Board Chairman Jack Brooks in a prepared statement.
