At a special meeting yesterday, Bay Area Rapid Transit's (BART) board approved the 2013-17 labor agreement with the agency's two largest unions: Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1555 and Service Employees International Union Local 1021.

The contract includes revisions recently negotiated to resolve a disputed family leave provision that was mistakenly included in the original tentative agreements reached on Oct. 21, 2013, BART officials said in a press release.

BART General Manager Grace Crunican will execute the contract after ratification by union employees, who will vote in the coming weeks, they said.

On Dec. 21, BART and the unions resolved the remaining contract difference with solutions that are "administrative in nature" or will be covered by BART's existing budget, according to the press release.
