Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers recently reached a tentative agreement with the National Carriers' Conference Committee of the National Railway Labor Conference, which represents 32 U.S. railroads, including five Class Is.
The tentative agreement covers work rules, wages and health care, but terms weren't disclosed pending ratification, BLE officials said in a prepared statement.
BLE officials plan to discuss contract terms at a meeting in Cleveland on Oct. 21.
Including the tentative pact, U.S. roads now have reached labor agreements covering about 90 percent of their total workforce.
